So basically i have this theory that those three objects are symbolic and significant and it’s kind of like a rock-paper-scissors thing.
and then two main characters have access to two of them but are forever barred from attaining the third
there are flaws here, like Jay touching the cement block and the knife showing up in Alex’s house, but the major events with those items were limited to two people
i had a whole explanation planned out but i have to be up and about in like 7 hours so i’d like to get to sleep instead of writing this properly
Flashlight- Alex and Jay have this, because they’re searching and filming.
Tim does not and, assuming he’s totheark, this works nicely with the “you will lead me to the ark” thing
because it implies that he needs to be led and can’t find his way without Alex or Jay to follow.
Cement Block- Alex and Tim have this. Basically it symbolizes like… authority and boldness and stuff.
Jay is very withdrawn and cautious, only resorting to action in a panic or when absolutely necessary.
Tim (at least in his masked persona) and Alex are both a great deal more ambitious and assertive than Jay, often shown to confront things directly.
Knife- Tim and Jay.
This is what really sold me on this theory, since Jay made it a point both to show the audience that he had a knife and to keep it from Alex once he wrestled it away from Tim.
It seems to represent precision or self-control, which Alex lacks.
Jay is very wary of how he reacts, and usually tries to assign meaning to something before responding to it.
Tim seems pretty random, but that’s from Jay’s perspective. If Tim is doing information gathering of his own, his spastic tackling might actually have a greater purpose that we can’t see because we don’t have any tapes from him.
overall he seems to know what he’s doing.
Couple that with his cryptic TTA videos and you’ve got a nice match for the knife
YEAH I DON’T KNOW THIS IS TERRIBLY WRITTEN I’M SORRY
If anyone has any thoughts on this theory, or was thinking along the same lines, i’d love to hear everythingholy fuck this is cool
I’ll be honest I’m sort of indifferent to the art here but I LOVE the theory. It could be totally off the mark but it’s pretty well thought out and I like the idea of it.

I want to start by saying I absolutely adore the slenderfandom. Every last one of you – you’re all completely and utterly batshit insane. Your willingness to accept a modern bogeyman whose very own mythos acknowledge and embrace an existence as a tulpa…
